- Support the logistical planning, implementation, and technical facilitation of professional development programming through the Graduate Student Resource Center, including ongoing events such as, but not limited to: New Graduate Student Orientation, Resource Fair, Grad Success Series, Grad Slam, Writer’s Room, Leadership Certificate Program, Public Speaking Certification Series, etc;
- Assist with Shoreline and Localist event management, webpage updates as needed;
- Stay up-to-date on general funding timelines and application cycles to appropriately guide graduate students and postdoctoral scholars toward relevant funding opportunities;
- Provide one-on-one advising through appointments and email requests for information or assistance, offering confidential advice and making referrals as needed;
- Maintain funding resource pages, and fellowship library of sample personal statements and grant applications;
- Have an understanding of the various campus resources available to graduate students, including international and funding resources;
- Advocate for the interests of UCSB graduate students (domestic and international) and postdoctoral scholars by fostering campus partnerships and participating in campus committees;
- Support in the day-to-day operations of the Graduate Student Resource Center, including opening and closing the space, welcoming students and answering general questions about the Center, and ensuring that our supply levels remain stocked;
- Develop and manage other special projects, as assigned; and,
- Work effectively and collaboratively with other students and staff in the Graduate Student Resource Center, as well as other Graduate Division and Student Affairs staff.
